Patrick Watts, Camp Susque’s Hospitality Director, desires to diligently discern the details directed to his desktop. He has a unique set of skills, life experiences, and sense of humor that allows him to quickly connect with people of all ages, backgrounds, and cultures. Patrick earned his bachelor’s degree from Penn College before quickly rising to the coveted role of Junior Project Engineer at a private medical device company. After quickly conquering that career, he took on the much more challenging role of “missionary” in Quito, Ecuador, South America. Obviously, he also rapidly ascended through the world rankings and needed a new challenge. After retiring for the second time, he decided a leisurely career as a Chinese food delivery driver would be his next challenge. Patrick quickly mastered the roads of Williamsport while memorizing each traffic light and stop sign in order to maximize efficiency and minimize delivery times. It was sometime during this esteemed career that he met (an important step), proposed to (can’t forget about that), then married (the most vital step) his wife Grace (read her bio above, it’s likely a better read). After much deliberation and many miles driven in circles around Williamsport, the decision was made to move on to a new challenge… Camp Susque’s Hospitality Director. Though daunting, Patrick is looking forward to the challenges ahead.
In his free time, Patrick enjoys watching sports, meddling in his vegetable garden, sleeping, watching sports, eating food, and watching sports. He also enjoys making others laugh, so please laugh at his jokes occasionally, even if they’re not that funny… Thanks!

What year did you start at Camp Susque?

Jan 2025... unless you count my brief summer gig in 2019.

What kind of experience do you have in your field?

I was the Intern and Short-Term Teams Coordinator for Inca Link International, a small international missions organization. I've found myself drawing from that experience many times as I learn my current role.

What kind of schooling do you have?

I have a bachelor's degree in Plastics & Polymer Engineering Technology from The Pennsylvania College of Technology. I've also taken a few Master's level courses in International Leadership from Crown College.

Where were you born and raised?

I was born and raised in Central PA. Mostly in Turbotville, PA.

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I don't like water.

What was your first job?

My first "paycheck" was as a taste tester for Con Agra Foods. My first job was replacing shingle roofs with my dad and brothers.

Describe your perfect day off?

Sports, sleep, gardening, and grub... in any order.

Where’s the coolest place you’ve ever been?

Wow... umm... a random rio in Colombia.

What’s one thing on your bucket list that you’d love to do?

Visit Australia.

What is your favorite Scripture?

Philippians 4:12

What is your favorite area at Camp Susque?

I enjoy watching the Summer Camp activities from Hemlock Hall porch or the quiet seclusion of Eagle's Nest or the Nature Blind.

What is the story behind your fun photo prop?

Describe your job at Camp Susque in a nutshell, and what is your favorite day in the life of your job?

Well, I'm still trying to figure this out... My role entails communicating with those seeking to utilize Camp Susque for their events or retreats in order to coordinate details and expectations. I also organize volunteers for various events throughout the year and recruit staff to work during retreats and events. There are lots of other little things in between like tidying up before a guest group arrives and keeping supply shelves stocked. My favorite day would be Friday, or whichever day the retreat arrives, because they are always in awe of the beauty of God's creation that surrounds Camp Susque.

What are you good at?

I enjoy making others laugh... I hope I'm good at it.

What challenges you?

Striving to be more like Christ everyday is enough of a challenge for me!

What is your favorite camp memory as a child?

I didn't attend Camp Susque, but I did attend another summer camp. I enjoyed connecting with my friends and learning about God in a setting designed for youth.

When did you become a Christian?

I became a Christian in my early childhood.
