What year did you start at Camp Susque?

2017

What kind of experience do you have in your field?

As far as actual cooking goes...I worked in food service and have been an avid home cook for many years, cooking for both my family and other families. I have also helped to cook for large events with my church and other non-profit organizations. As far as management goes...I've been a teacher and managed classrooms and educational programming in various settings. I directed my church's kids ministry for a little while. As far as my experience at Susque and summer camp goes...I've held several different roles at Susque and also at another camp during college.

What kind of schooling do you have?

Bachelor's degree in Art Education from Kutztown University of PA.

Where were you born and raised?

Williamsport, PA

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I do not own any orange clothing, nor will it ever enter my wardrobe willingly.

What was your first job?

McDonalds...but that only lasted about 2 weeks. I then worked at Sunset Ice Cream for a couple of years throughout high school, so I like to think of that as my first job.

Describe your perfect day off?

Hmmm...a slow day is perfect. Long walk with my dog, make delicious and nourishing food, read, pray, cards with family. Maybe a bike ride.

Where’s the coolest place you’ve ever been?

Flying over the Alps. The view was amazing.

What’s one thing on your bucket list that you’d love to do?

I don't have a bucket list, but I would like to live overseas again someday.

What is your favorite Scripture?

Isaiah 57:15 "For this is what the high and lofty One says - he who lives forever, whose name is holy: 'I live in a high and holy place, but also with him who is contrite and lowly in spirit, to revive the spirit of the lowly and to revive the heart of the contrite."

What is your favorite area at Camp Susque?

The ledge next to the bridge.

What is the story behind your fun photo prop?

Describe your job at Camp Susque in a nutshell, and what is your favorite day in the life of your job?

I coordinate and manage the day-to-day operations of the kitchen. I make menus, order food, help teach kitchen staff what to do, cook food, wash dishes. My favorite day is making homemade soup in the kitchen and listening to music or a podcast. Which is also one of my favorite things to do at home!

What are you good at?

Cooking

What challenges you?

Spiders.

What is your favorite camp memory as a child?

I got involved with camp at the age of 28, so I have no memories of camp from childhood.

When did you become a Christian?

Such an interesting question, and to be honest, I have no clear-cut answer. I was a professing Christian when I was a teenager, but did not grow up in the church, so I had no foundation of what the gospel actually was or what the Bible was about. I just believed in God and prayed to Him. I started attending church regularly for the first time in college, but in my view, remained biblically illiterate until my 30s. Strangely though, when I was 16, I decided to get baptized after hearing a sermon about it somewhere. God has just always seemed to make himself known to me throughout my life. My Christian faith became much more serious when started attending a bible study group with Bible Study Fellowship in 2019, at the age of 30. I have been attending ever since. I love it. My first two years we studied Genesis and the book of Matthew. These studies were all about "Who God Is" and "Who Jesus Is". I learned so much about God, Jesus, and the Bible I never knew, but somehow had always known in my spirit! Through attending BSF, I finally understood the "substance of my faith" that the Bible speaks about (Hebrews 11:1). My thirsty dry soul was quenched with the truth of Scripture and the understanding that the Holy Spirit brings. I could finally articulate with clarity and assurance my faith in Jesus Christ and what that meant. I started to think more intently about repentance and what I need to repent of and entrust to Jesus. God has used the study of His Word to illuminate my faith and anchor my soul firmly to Christ. So I don't know exactly when I "became" a Christian. I do know that God has always had His hand on me and has never let me go. It is because of His grace, through Jesus Christ our Savior, that I am His child. Praise God!
