Wilderness Trip Leader
Mission
The mission of Camp Susque is biblical evangelism and growth in Christian character for youth, young adults and families. The Susque ministry seeks to introduce campers of all ages to our God and Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ within a rustic camp setting. In essence, we want campers to experience their Creator!Purpose
Wilderness Trip Leaders share in Susque’s mission by executing Susque Wilderness Trip programs while leading and caring for campers throughout each wilderness trip.Requirements
- 21 years of age (preferred).
- 1-2 seasons of prior camp or wilderness leadership experience (preferably at Camp Susque).
- Current CPR and First Aid certification from a nationally recognized organization.
- Current Lifeguard and/or Wilderness First Aid certification from a nationally recognized organization (preferred).
- Able to lift and carry a 30 pound pack load a minimum of 10 miles.
- Able to read and write at a high school level.
- Must demonstrate spiritual maturity as well as biblical leadership qualities.

Program DirectorEssential Responsibilities
- Go on and lead all outbound trips.
- Communicate effectively with camp staff and outfitters before, during, and after each trip.
- Work together as a team with two other trip leaders.
- Learn and demonstrate all skills necessary for each trip including: water filtration, stove usage, paddling skills, etc.
Specific Responsibilities
- Handle the purchasing of necessary materials and food for each trip.
- Clean, fix, maintain, and replace as necessary, adventure trip gear.
- Complete all pre-trip prep including: Assembling trip journals, pre-trip contact with each participant, packing food and gear.
- Study and learn details for each trip including: route (driving), trip itinerary, emergency procedures, trip activities, chapels.
- Complete all post-trip items including: Clean and store all gear, clean vehicles, debrief with Program Director, submit all receipts/expenses, file all paperwork.
- Plan and conduct orientation for campers on Sat. of each trip.
- Safely execute planned itinerary for each trip.
- Monitor and guard the emotional, physical, and spiritual health of each camper.
- Spend time with campers and consciously seek to develop Christ-centered relationships.
- Be encouraging and maintain a positive attitude.
- Discipline as necessary according to camp policy.
