Experience the fun of camp in single-day outdoor education events! Susque's summer classes are a great way to get outside and explore in the summer! All programs are taught from a Christian perspective by qualified teachers who seek to inspire youth and families to learn and discover God's truth.

 

Summer SOD Classes 2021

Kayaking 101

 

Grades 5-12+

June 10  

1:00-4:00 PM

All levels of experience are welcome on this kayaking trip. An experienced instructor will accompany the trip to ensure safety and fun! Wear shoes for in the creek and appropriate clothing for the water. Adults attending this class must register.  Youth under 13 must be accompanied by an adult - Limited class size, register soon!

Tubing down the Creek

 

Ages 6+

 

$15/person

June 11

1:00-4:00 PM

Come Tube down the creek with us! An experienced instructor will accompany the trip to ensure safety and fun! Wear shoes for in the creek and appropriate clothing for the water, a towel and dry clothing. Adults attending this class must register.  Tubes and transportation back to Susque are provided, with multiple "bailout" options if the trip gets too long.  Youth under 13 must be accompanied by an adult

We will provide a hot dog roast after tubing!

Canoeing on the Rose Valley Lake

 

Grades 6-12+

 

$25/person

June 22

1:00-4:00 PM

All levels of experience are welcome on this Canoe Trip. An experienced instructor will accompany the trip to ensure safety and fun! Wear water appropriate shoes and appropriate clothing for the water. We will learn canoe stroke basics, play canoe games and practice wet exits and entry if desired. Adults attending this class must register.  Limited class size, register soon!

Rattlesnake Hike

 

Grades 4-12+

 

$5/person

July 6

9:00-12:00 noon

Take a hike up one of Susque's classic trails to Rattlesnake Point, stopping by SugarSnake Falls on the way up. Rattlesnake point is home to many of its namesake, so it is often a great opportunity to see one of Pennsylvania's two venomous reptiles (from a safe distance!). Hike is approximately 2.5 miles round trip, with sustained steep sections, making it somewhat strenuous. Hike followed by a campfire and snack. Ages 10+. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/responsible adult.

Evening Lookout Hike

July 20

6:00-9:00 PM

 Take an evening hike up one of Susque's classic trails to an incredible overlook that "Hiking the Endless Mountains" author, Jeff Mitchell, described as one of the top-ten vistas in Pennsylvania. Follow it up with a great snack cooked over the fire at camp. The hike is moderately difficult and approximately 3 miles round-trip. Closed-toe and sturdy hiking shoes a must. Ages 8+. All children under 16 must be accompanied by a parent/responsible adult.

Climbing Wall

Grades 3-12+

 

$15/person

2:00-4:00 PM

Challenge yourself, tackle your fear of height and learn climbing techniques in safety on Susque's 35-foot tall climbing tower. Our belayers and instructors will keep you safe and teach great techniques to help you reach the top and ring the bell. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. Ages 8+.
