Wilderness First Aid Course

April 13-14,2021 Outdoor enthusiasts 18 y/o or older.
$175 (includes room & board)

Wilderness First Aid is an excellent course for wilderness group guides, camp counselors, long trail backpackers, weekend trippers, or someone excited to start their first outdoor adventure.  The "WFA" course will equip students with basic first aid skills intended for places and situations where definitive medical care is more than an hour away.  Students can expect to spend a minimal amount of time in the classroom and a much greater amount of time outdoors practicing newly learned skills and putting them to use in relevent scenarios.

The Wilderness First Aid course is provided through SOLO Wilderness Medicine schools (SOLO) and is a nationally recognized certification that meets American Camping Association standards for trip leaders and can be counted towards continuing education hours for EMTs.  The course can also be used to re-certify a current Wilderness First Responder certification.  The WFA certification is valid for two (2) years from the class date.  It is recommended that the holder of the WFA certification also obtain a nationally recognized CPR certification (SOLO CPR, Red Cross, American Heart Assoc., etc)  Please note: CPR will not be offered with this course.

Students should come prepared to spend time outside (rain or shine) participating in hands on activities that may be physically challenging.

Nestled in the beautiful mountains of north-central Pennsylvania, Camp Susque has been a cherished haven for generations of families. What began as a summer youth camp in 1947 has grown to include wilderness trips, family camps, winter camps, homeschool classes, field trips, and retreats and rentals. Values such as community, responsibility, and slowing down to "Experience Your Creator" are woven into each program and tradition. As a result, Susque has been a place where thousands of youth, young adults, and families have come for escape, refreshment, and as one camper put it, "to be myself."

We'd love to show you around, so if you'd like more information, feel free to give us a call or come for a visit.

"You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being." Revelation 4:11
