SUMMARY:West Rim Excursion Trek - 2026
DESCRIPTION:Hike\, bike\, and climb the beautiful Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and make new friends while camping under the stars. \nThe West Rim Excursion is geared right towards middle-school-age campers. It takes place about an hour away in the stunning Pine Creek Gorge\, also known as the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon. This four-day\, three-night trip is led by experienced Susque staff members trained specifically in leading Wilderness Trips. \nThe Trip is designed as an intro to our week-long\, high-school-age Wilderness Trips. A majority of the Trip consists of moderately challenging backpacking along the gorge’s West Rim Trail. The trail\, named “Best Hike in Pennsylvania” by Outside Magazine\, runs along the top of the Gorge and affords campers spectacular vistas and scenery complete with waterfalls and stream crossings. Elevation change is minimal as the trail winds atop the Allegheny Plateau and passes through a variety of forest types and environments. The Trip concludes with campers getting to head down into the Gorge and try their hand at paddling on beautiful Pine Creek! \nIn addition to the physical challenges of the Trip\, chapels\, meals\, and campfire time are all geared towards helping campers grasp a sense of community\, awareness\, and responsibility. Group dynamics are a key focus of our Wilderness Trips. Leaders take the time to guide conversations and help campers think through how they can contribute to Christian love and unity. \nWest Rim Highlights: \n\nLiving out of a backpack\nExploring a 100-year-old Hemlock grove\nBreathtaking vistas overlooking the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon\nPaddling on scenic Pine Creek\nEnjoying food cooked over an open fire\n\nIf this is the first time you are sending a camper to camp or you have any questions\, please read our FAQ for Wilderness Trips and don’t hesitate to give us a call (570-998-2151) or email us a question (susque@susque.org). SUMMARY:Boys Camp Week I - 2026 - Ancient Empires Week
DESCRIPTION:Boys camp is where boys entering grades 3-11 will make new friends\, learn new outdoor skills\, and participate in classic camp activities like campfires\, cookouts\, climbing\, hiking\, swimming\, rocketry and chapels. \nAncient Empires Week\n\n• Journey through time to see the greatest empires in history!\n• Decipher the ancient hieroglyphs\n• Train to be the best in the ancient Susquathalon\n\nIf you’re not sure which camp theme to come to\, you can come to more than one!  They’re all a great time. \nFor years\, Boys Camp has provided a fun-filled\, supportive atmosphere where boys can be themselves. Here they can withdraw from the distractions of everyday life and co-ed settings. Each week\, close bonds form as Littlemen (grades 3-5)\, Mountainmen (grades 6-8)\, and Woodsmen (grades 9-11) try their hand at skill-based activities such as canoeing\, film-making\, pottery\, and archery. Other small and large group activities such as gaga\, campouts\, and special theme activities add a chance to mingle and enjoy creative\, fun elements. \nMost importantly\, boys will be immersed in a safe\, loving community of leaders and young adults who have a passion for them to both hear and see the Gospel of Christ lived out. Each day\, campers will hear from and interact with Chaplain Dan Renno\, chosen for his ability to work with youth and encourage the hearts of young men. Well-screened\, trained\, college-age counselors also participate in the learning process as they guide their small cabin or tent group of 6-8 boys into the deeper truths of living in community and sensing God’s purpose in their lives. \nA hallmark of Susque\, reaching back to the very beginnings of our ministry\, occurs once a week for each cabin or tent group: the famed “Susque Stew Experience.” This purposeful\, special evening builds self-sufficiency as each cabin or tent group strikes off to seek God in quieter areas of camp. Each group prepares their own meal over a campfire they built themselves and prepares their sleeping quarters for that evening’s rest under the stars. The goal of the evening is to prepare an open opportunity for the cabin or tent group to gather around the fire and share about their lives\, their struggles\, and their questions. Guest chaplains or other camp leadership are often in attendance to help stimulate and guide the conversation. \nIf this is the first time you are sending a camper to camp or you have any questions\, please read our FAQ for Summer Camps and don’t hesitate to give us a call (570-998-2151) or email us a question (susque@susque.org). SUMMARY:Adirondack Adventure I - 2026
DESCRIPTION:The Adirondack Adventure is the classic Susque Wilderness Trip experience. Campers will head to the deep\, warm\, clean waters of the Saranac Lakes at the top of New York for a week of adventure they’ll likely never forget! The week-long trip is led by experienced Susque staff members trained specifically in leading Wilderness Trips. \nCampers will wake up in forests of pine and birch\, listening to the lap of waves on the rocky shore. A day of traversing the lakes and playing wild and crazy canoe games makes mealtimes especially satisfying. Stunning sunsets over the lakes and islands prepare the perfect backdrop for thoughtful Chapels and group discussions. And campers will be soothed to sleep again while hearing loons call across the starlit waters. \nThe atmosphere of the lakes is one that encourages campers to slow down\, enjoy the simple peace and beauty of creation\, and savor every moment. To take advantage of the soul-stimulating surroundings\, the Trip also contains intentional quiet times sitting around the fire\, enjoying meals\, and discussing life and God in Chapel. A peak event of the trip occurs mid-way through with the vigorous ascent up Mount Ampersand! From the top\, campers can view all three of the lakes they will traverse as well as far into the endless mountains of the Adirondacks. Since responsibility and taking initiative are key themes on our Wilderness Trips\, campers will shoulder the bulk of the daily chores\, meal preparation\, setting up and tearing down camp\, as well as leading Chapels and developing discussion questions. \nThe Adirondack Adventure will challenge campers to take a hard look at their lives and prioritize them so they can go forth and make a difference in the world for Christ. \nAdirondack Adventure Highlights: \n\nCanoeing through Upper\, Middle\, & Lower Saranac Lakes\nCamp on islands rich in pine and birch\nAmazing sunsets\nHike Mount Ampersand\nPaddle though a canal-and-lock system\n\nIf this is the first time you are sending a camper to camp or you have any questions\, please read our FAQs for Wilderness Trips below and don’t hesitate to give us a call (570-998-2151) or email us a question (susque@susque.org). Each week\, close bonds form as Jays (grades 3-5)\, Doves (grades 6-8)\, and Hawks (grades 9-11) try their hand at skill-based activities such as canoeing\, dance\, pottery\, and archery. Other small and large group activities such as gaga\, campouts\, and special theme activities add a chance to mingle and enjoy creative\, fun elements. \nMost importantly\, girls will be immersed in a safe\, loving community of leaders and young adults who have a passion for them to both hear and see the Gospel of Christ lived out. Each day\, campers will hear from and interact with a chaplain and sometimes his wife\, chosen for their ability to work with youth and encourage the hearts of young women. Well-screened\, trained\, college-age counselors also participate in the learning process as they guide their small cabin or tent group of 6-8 girls into the deeper truths of living in community and sensing God’s purpose in their lives. We look forward to working with you to make your child’s camp experience safe\, fun\, and successful!
